Center for Study of Nutrient-Responsive Systems Welcomes Dr. Dawn Geiser

The Center for The Study of Nutrient-Responsive Systems is honored to welcome Dr. Dawn Geiser as a Senior Scientist and Director of our Mechanistic Studies Branch. Dr. Geiser earned her doctoral degree in nutritional biochemistry, minoring in immunology and microbiology, at the University of Arizona. Dr. Geiser served for nearly 9 years as Research Assistant Professor of Nutrition and taught a graduate-level mineral metabolism course. Dr. Geiser is an experienced scientist and manager with a demonstrated history of working across disciplines. She is skilled in biochemistry, cell culture, microscopy, molecular biology, and nutrition. Dr. Geiser is a strong research professional with a Project Management Certificate from the University of California, San Diego. She will be investigating the mechanism of disease progression in advanced age-related macular degeneration using retina organoids/3D cell culture, organ-on-a-chip, and human donor tissue modalities.
