Jorey Cohen is a Research Development Professional I in the Department of Nutritional Sciences. She graduated from the University of Arizona Honors College in Neuroscience Cognitive Science and Molecular Cellular Biology in May 2021. Throughout her undergraduate career, Ms. Cohen was involved in multiple research labs. Some of her research highlights include 1) completion of her honors thesis, “Role of Hypothalamic Gene Expression During Co-Exposure to Sleep Disruption and a High Fat Diet”, and 2) creating and presenting the research poster, “Pleiotropic Loci Exist for Advanced Age Related Macular Degeneration & Celiac Disease”, at the 2021 Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology conference. Ms. Cohen is largely interested in public health and helping people live healthier lives. She is a blogger for her site, A Helping of Healthy Adulting, a content editor for U Rock Girl, an online source for women’s health, and a Market Research Associate for Darwin Research Group. As a Research Development Professional I, Ms. Cohen is foremost working with Dr. SanGiovanni by compiling data, assisting with grant writing, editing, composing reports, and collaborating with researchers, amongst other duties, to advance research efforts in the field of retinal and brain science.
